The course is designed for those with a passion for Photography, whether your preference is urban landscape, portraiture, or anything in between. Even if you have never picked up a camera in earnest, you will quickly learn the skills required to take a memorable image.
Designed for those in the serving military community, ex-service personnel and veterans, the course is open to all regardless of age, rank or previous experience.
In particular, we are keen to accommodate those who have been wounded, injured or sick whilst serving.
This two-week course is centred around learning the fundamentals of photography and becoming comfortable with your camera. On this course we cover:
The course runs from Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:30 for a duration of two weeks.
Additionally, there are self-guided evening sessions in order to complete assignment tasks.
The course is delivered by our talented tutors and covers both theoretical and practical aspects of Photography.
The course is delivered and assessed at an academic level 3 and the assessment elements (images & Photographic journals) are worked on during class time supported by the tutors.
The course is delivered at BFBS’s dedicated media hub at Chalfont Grove in Chalfont St. Peter, SL9 8TN, just 30 minutes by train from London. The closest overland station is Gerrards Cross and the closest underground station is Chalfont & Latimer. We are also within easy reach of the M40, M25 and M4.
Some activities are classroom based whilst others take place out and about, in either a rural or urban environment, supported by the tutors.
At the end of the course, students will gain a Level 3 Award in Photography.
The course has been fully accredited by UAL (University of Arts London). You can therefore use this qualification as part of your CPD (Continuous Professional Development) program.
The level 3 course has been registered at the Ofqual website.

Rupert Frere is the Master Photographer of the British Army and a company director of Schmooly media company.
This course has been developed by Rupert and will be co-delivered by both Rupert and Robert.
Rupert has won various awards for his photography and is well respected within photographic circles.
Rupert has taught Photography to British Army Intelligence and has worked as a Royal photographer covering a range of important Royal occasions.
Introducing Robert Weideman, an experienced instructor with a diverse background in military and civilian sectors. With over a decade of military service, Robert's expertise in communication and instruction in photography and videography is invaluable.
As head videographer/Co-director at Schmooly, he oversees workshops and captures content worldwide.
Robert's work as an Army Photographer has gained national and international recognition with features on the front pages of multiple newspapers. Robert has photographed royalty, celebrities, and many high-profile concerts within his portfolio.
